When I first heard some of the reviews from “When They Cry”, I must say that I was thinking horror in an anime didn’t seem possible. But in the first five minutes, you are hooked - though some of the scenes are a little nerve shaking. If you love a good nail biter, this is really the story for you! However, if you think that anime is all fun and games, this series will give you a new twist to that thinking.
The watching of Perfect Blue was a test of courage. Back in my college days I went over to a friends’ house for the first time. They showed me this anime. It was how they decided whether or not to keep people. If you ran away screaming, you failed obviously. I think they mainly did it to weed out the “real” anime fans from the teeny-boppers who had only seen "Sailormoon" and "DBZ". I passed by the way. Not only did I keep my composure and lunch, I ended up really liking the movie!
This series really surprised me. I didn’t think I would like it, but a lot of my older students were really into it so I decided to give it a go. All they would tell me was that it was about a bunch of kids that die over and over again. When I finished, I was surprised that my students’ parents even let them watch this show!
